NTPC Bongaigaon Showcases Sporting Excellence at IRSM ER-II Football and Cricket Tournaments

Khwmdwn Narzary received the Golden Gloves Award for his consistent and reliable performance as goalkeeper

NTPC Bongaigaon marked a strong and commendable presence at the Intra Regional Sports Meet (IRSM) – ER-II Football and Cricket Tournaments, with its teams and players delivering consistent performances and earning multiple team and individual accolades across both sporting disciplines.

The tournaments concluded with a formal closing and prize distribution ceremony. During the ceremony, the participating teams ceremonially handed over the football and cricket trophies to the Head of Project and senior officials of the HR Department. Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, formally handed over the trophies, congratulating the teams and appreciating the discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship displayed throughout the competitions.

Football Tournament Highlights

NTPC Bongaigaon players delivered outstanding individual performances in the football tournament. Narkhw Narzary was awarded the Golden Boot Award for his impressive goal-scoring performance, emerging as one of the standout players of the tournament. Khwmdwn Narzary received the Golden Gloves Award for his consistent and reliable performance as goalkeeper, playing a crucial role in strengthening the team’s defence.

The Man of the Match awards further highlighted individual brilliance, with Narkhw Narzary receiving the award in two matches, while Suraj and Rajib were each adjudged Man of the Match for one match, recognising their decisive contributions in key fixtures.

Cricket Tournament Achievements

NTPC Bongaigaon also recorded notable achievements in the cricket tournament. At the team level, Team NTPC Bongaigaon secured the Runner-Up position in the Men’s Cricket Tournament, reflecting consistent performances and strong competitive spirit throughout the league and knockout stages.

Several players earned individual accolades for their batting performances. Abhijit Ghosh was adjudged Best Bat of the Tournament and also received the award for Most Fours of the Tournament, underlining his consistency and match-winning contributions. Jitendra Mohanty was recognised with the award for Best and Most Sixes of the Tournament, highlighting the team’s formidable middle-order batting strength.

The Man of the Match awards in cricket were presented to Mukarram, Tamal Kanti Paul and Jitendra Mohanty, acknowledging their impactful performances and decisive roles in match outcomes during the tournament.

Addressing the gathering, Arnab Maitra emphasised the importance of sports and IRSM in promoting teamwork, discipline, leadership and a healthy work-life balance. He appreciated the players, organisers and the HR Department for their efforts in ensuring the smooth conduct of the tournaments and for fostering a strong culture of sports and wellness within NTPC.

The achievements and recognitions earned by NTPC Bongaigaon at the IRSM ER-II Football and Cricket Tournaments reaffirm the station’s continued focus on employee engagement, physical fitness and holistic development, while strengthening inter-project bonding across Eastern Region-II.
