ONGC Advances Towards Subduing and Capping Well Mori#5

Debris clearance completed; wellhead access restored as capping operations move forward

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has made significant progress in its efforts to subdue and cap Well Mori#5, operated by PEC contractor M/s Deep Industries Ltd., in accordance with the approved blowout control plan.

ONGC’s Crisis Management Team has successfully cleared most of the debris from the wellsite, enabling unhindered access to the wellhead area. Critical structural obstructions, including remnants of the mast and associated equipment, have been safely removed, allowing operations to advance towards the capping stage.

All essential equipment and materials required to expedite the capping process have been fully mobilised at the site. As part of ongoing safety measures, a continuous water blanket is being maintained around the wellhead to ensure a secure operational environment.

With conditions stabilised, residents in surrounding areas have resumed normal daily activities. ONGC confirmed that all operations are being conducted strictly in line with prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and in close coordination with the local administration.

Reiterating its commitment, ONGC stated that the safety of the local community and protection of the environment remain its highest priorities as operations continue.
