Global Employers’ Spokesperson to the ILO -Meets SCOPE Leadership

Meeting focuses on strengthening Indian employers’ participation in ILO forums and reinforcing tripartite cooperation for sustainable industrial relations

Mr. Matthias Thorns, Employers’ Spokesperson and Vice President to the International Labour Organization (ILO), met Mr. Atul Sobti, Director General, Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) and Member of the ILO Governing Body, along with senior SCOPE officials, to deliberate on strengthening the role of Indian employers in global labour and employment dialogue frameworks.

The meeting focused on the evolving dynamics of industrial relations and the importance of meaningful employer participation in international platforms, particularly within the ILO. Both sides discussed how Indian employers can play a more proactive role in shaping global conversations aimed at promoting harmonious industrial relations.

Emphasising the significance of tripartite cooperation among governments, employers, and workers, the interaction highlighted its relevance in addressing contemporary workplace challenges. The discussions also underscored the need for deeper employer engagement within ILO forums to foster inclusive growth, sustainable employment, and resilient industrial relations in an increasingly complex business environment.

The engagement reaffirmed SCOPE’s commitment to representing Indian public sector enterprises on global platforms and contributing constructively to international labour standards and policy discourse.
