IIM Jammu Inaugurates Leadership Development Programme for SAIL Officials

The Indian Institute of Management Jammu has commenced the second edition of its Leadership Development Programme (LDP) for Young Managers (Batch–II), marking the beginning of a year-long journey aimed at nurturing future-ready leadership within Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL).

The inaugural session was held at the Nyay (267) Classroom of the Vedanta MDP Centre and witnessed the participation of 35 SAIL officials. The programme is designed to strengthen managerial capabilities, strategic thinking, and organizational leadership skills among young executives.

Prof. Nitin Upadhyay, Dean (Academics), IIM Jammu, presided over the inaugural ceremony. The event was also graced by Prof. Sanjeev Pathak, Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy, along with Programme Directors Prof. P. P. Maheshwari, Dr. Manu Bansal, and Dr. Malaya Ranjan Mohapatra.

Dr. Atanu Mukherjee, General Manager (Academic), Central HRD and Senior Faculty at the Management Training Institute (MTI), SAIL, joined the session virtually along with other SAIL officials.

Set against the serene backdrop of the Trikuta Mountains, IIM Jammu provides a vibrant academic environment conducive to reflection, learning, and strategic engagement. Participants were encouraged to actively engage with faculty members and leverage the institute’s modern infrastructure, including the Vedanta MDP Centre and the central library, to maximize learning outcomes.

During the inaugural ceremony, participants introduced themselves and shared their professional backgrounds, fostering early collaboration and peer learning.

The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Manu Bansal, Programme Director, who expressed appreciation to the dignitaries, faculty members, and participants for their enthusiastic participation and commitment to excellence.

The training programme is being coordinated by the Executive Education and Consultancy division of IIM Jammu.
