Surya Roshni Showcases Solar LED Solutions at TERI’s LaBL 2.0 Launch During WSDS 2026

Surya Roshni Limited showcased its advanced solar LED lighting solutions during the launch of Lighting a Billion Lives (LaBL) 2.0 at the “Dinner of Hope” hosted by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). The initiative was unveiled at Taj Palace Hotel, Diplomatic Enclave, New Delhi, as part of the Silver Jubilee edition of the World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS) 2026.
LaBL 2.0 builds upon TERI’s globally recognised Lighting a Billion Lives programme, which has impacted more than 15 million people worldwide. The renewed initiative aims to address emerging challenges related to energy access, climate resilience and livelihood generation through decentralized clean energy solutions and community-driven models. The programme has been endorsed by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India.
During the pledge segment of the evening, Surya Roshni presented its solar LED lighting technologies as part of the symbolic “Press the Light for LaBL” activation. The ceremony featured a live pledge counter and a collective light activation, underscoring a shared commitment among stakeholders to expand sustainable energy access across underserved regions.
The formal programme commenced with welcome remarks by Dr. Vibha Dhawan, Director-General of TERI, followed by a special address from Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Secretary, MNRE. The event also witnessed the launch of the TERI–MNRE Joint Policy Paper, unveiling of LaBL 2.0’s mission and vision, release of the programme’s logo and website, and screening of a vision film highlighting future goals.
Speaking on the occasion, Vasumitra Pandey, CEO – Lighting & Consumer Durables, Surya Roshni Limited, said that access to dependable lighting remains fundamental to economic inclusion. He noted that the company’s solar lighting solutions are designed to deliver durability, efficiency and affordability at scale, aligning with the company’s focus on enabling last-mile energy access while contributing to India’s climate and sustainability objectives.
The evening also featured announcements on model solar villages, industry-led solar technology deployments and carbon finance frameworks aimed at accelerating decentralized renewable energy adoption.
