BSE Conducts Investor Awareness Programme at BCCL Headquarters

Experts highlight importance of safe, disciplined and informed investing

Leading stock exchange BSE Limited organised an Investor Awareness Programme (IAP) at Koyla Bhawan headquarters, aimed at equipping participants with essential knowledge for safe and informed investing.

The programme was conducted under BSE’s Investor Protection Fund (IPF) initiative in collaboration with Securities and Exchange Board of India, as part of the Regional Investor Seminar for Awareness campaign. The initiative seeks to promote financial literacy and empower investors to make prudent investment decisions.

The event was graced by BCCL CMD Manoj Kumar Agarwal, along with Director (HR) Murali Krishna Ramaiah, Director (Technical) Sanjay Kumar Singh, Company Secretary Debunuj Debnath, and senior officials, including General Managers and Heads of Departments. Regional General Managers and officers from various locations also joined virtually.

Focus on investor safety and fraud awareness

During the session, experts highlighted key precautions for investors and raised awareness about prevalent financial frauds, including:

  • Fake investment schemes
  • Unauthorized advisors
  • Misleading stock recommendations

Participants were also educated about the grievance redressal mechanism, including how to file complaints through official platforms and ensure timely resolution in cases of fraud or disputes.

CMD stresses discipline and long-term perspective

Addressing the gathering, CMD Manoj Kumar Agarwal emphasized that awareness, discipline, and vigilance are essential pillars of successful investing.

He advised investors to rely only on authorized and credible sources while making financial decisions and cautioned against falling for short-term temptations. He stressed that patience and a long-term approach are key to sustainable financial growth.

Highlighting the importance of financial literacy, he noted that such programmes play a vital role in guiding citizens towards responsible investing and urged participants to spread awareness within their communities.

The session was moderated by Karan, Manager, Common Investor Service Center, BSE Ranchi, who delivered a detailed presentation covering:

  • Basics of savings and investments
  • Power of compounding in equity markets
  • Key factors to consider before investing in stocks
  • Applicable fees, charges, and taxes
  • Trading and settlement cycles
