NTPC Vindhyachal inaugurates NR IRSM 2025–26 cricket tournament with grandeur
Eight teams from across the Northern Region—Vindhyachal, Singrauli, Rihand, Unchahar, Tanda, Dadri, Meja, and Jhajjar—are participating in the tournament

NTPC Limited’s Vindhyachal unit marked a spectacular beginning to the Northern Region Inter-Regional Sports Meet (IRSM) Cricket Tournament 2025–26 with a grand and vibrant opening ceremony at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Stadium on Monday.
The ceremony was graced by Sandeep Naik, Executive Director (Singrauli), in the august presence of S.N. Panigrahi, CGM (HR) & RHOHR (NR & SR), and Sanjib Kumar Saha, CGM (Vindhyachal). Senior officials including Ch. Kishore Kumar, GM (O&M Singrauli), and P.K. Nayak, GM (O&M – Rihand), along with the senior management team, were also present.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from Dr. Janardhan Pandey, Principal of Delhi Public School, Heads of Departments, union and association members, CISF officials, media representatives, and employees.
The ceremony commenced with a welcome address by Ruma De Sharma, Head of HR (Vindhyachal), followed by an inspiring audio message from Diwakar Kaushik, CEO (NSPCL) & RED (NR). The traditional NTPC flag hoisting and rendition of the NTPC Geet set the tone for the event.
Adding to the grandeur, a torch-lighting ceremony and an impressive march past by participating teams reflected the spirit of international sporting events. Shri Sandeep Naik and Shri Sanjib Kumar Saha administered the sports pledge in Hindi and English, emphasizing discipline, integrity, and teamwork.
Eight teams from across the Northern Region—Vindhyachal, Singrauli, Rihand, Unchahar, Tanda, Dadri, Meja, and Jhajjar—are participating in the tournament, which will be held from April 6 to April 11, 2026, at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Stadium, Vindhyanagar, and Nigahi Stadium, NCL.
A key highlight of the ceremony was the unveiling of the tournament trophy by the dignitaries. Addressing the gathering, Shri Saha emphasized the importance of sports in fostering mental well-being and life skills, while Shri S.N. Panigrahi highlighted how sporting values contribute to professional excellence.
The ceremony was further enlivened by a cultural performance by students of Delhi Public School.
The inaugural match between Vindhyachal Warriors and Team Dadri Legends saw Vindhyachal Warriors register a convincing 8-wicket victory over their opponents.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks and the National Anthem, marking a spirited and memorable start to the tournament.
