NTPC Vindhyachal Marks Fire Service Week 2026, Reinforces Safety Commitment

NTPC Limited’s Vindhyachal Super Thermal Power Station commenced Fire Service Week 2026 with solemn tributes and a renewed focus on safety excellence, honouring the bravery and sacrifice of firefighters during the historic Bombay Dockyard Fire.

The observance began with a heartfelt address underlining the significance of the occasion and the extraordinary courage of fire personnel in safeguarding lives and critical infrastructure. Floral tributes were paid by Sanjib Kumar Saha, CGM (Vindhyachal), along with senior officials, CISF personnel, and employees.

Marking the launch of a week-long Fire Awareness Programme, Saha flagged off a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing safety awareness and emergency preparedness across the station. He also administered the Fire Safety Pledge, reaffirming NTPC’s commitment to proactive risk identification and prevention.

In his address, Saha expressed pride in the station’s achievement of the prestigious Agni Suraksha Puraskar in the previous financial year and stressed the importance of continuous vigilance, strict adherence to safety protocols, and nurturing a culture of safety excellence.

Senior leadership including A.J. Rajkumar, GM (O&M); M. Suresh, GM (Maintenance & ADM); S.K. Sinha, GM (Operation & FM); Dr. B.K. Bharali, GM (Medical Services); and Ruma De Sharma, Head of HR (Vindhyachal), along with Heads of Departments and CISF officials, were present on the occasion.

A key highlight of the event was a live demonstration by the CISF Fire Wing, showcasing advanced firefighting techniques, rapid response strategies, and emergency handling best practices. A specially curated fire safety booklet covering prevention methods, correct use of extinguishers, and emergency contacts was also introduced to strengthen awareness.

The programme was coordinated by Harveer Singh, Inspector (Fire), while the vote of thanks was delivered by Sada Ram Yadav, DC (CISF).

The observance not only paid homage to fallen heroes but also reinforced NTPC Vindhyachal’s proactive approach to fire risk management and its preparedness to tackle future challenges, strengthening its culture of resilience and safety.
