NTPC Vindhyachal Wins National “Environment Excellence 2026” Award for Sustainable Thermal Power Operations

In a significant national recognition of its sustainable thermal power generation practices, NTPC Vindhyachal has been conferred with the prestigious “Environment Excellence 2026 – Central Sector Coal Based Power Plant of the Year” award by the Mission Energy Foundation at Goa.
The award was presented during the Foundation’s flagship Environment Excellence – 2026 Conference & Awards, a national platform that honours utilities and industries demonstrating outstanding commitment to environmental management, emission control, decarbonisation initiatives and sustainable operational practices.
This distinguished honour underscores NTPC Vindhyachal’s steadfast commitment towards sustainable operations, environmental stewardship and implementation of best-in-class green practices in coal-based thermal power generation.
Sanjay Prakash Yadav, AGM (EMG), received the award on behalf of NTPC Vindhyachal, marking yet another milestone in the station’s continued journey of operational excellence aligned with environmental responsibility.
Over the years, NTPC Vindhyachal has consistently focused on reducing environmental footprint through advanced emission monitoring systems, efficient ash utilisation, water conservation, plantation drives, and adoption of innovative environment-friendly technologies.
The latest recognition further strengthens Vindhyachal’s position as one of NTPC’s flagship generating stations contributing not only to the nation’s power security but also to India’s larger clean energy and sustainability goals.
Notably, NTPC as a Maharatna power major PSU, has been receiving multiple environmental recognitions at the national level for embedding ESG-led practices and responsible power generation across its stations.
