ACC Clears MNVS Prabhakar as CMD of RINL
Prabhakar was earlier recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board
In a key development in the steel PSU space, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has cleared the appointment of MNVS Prabhakar as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL).
Prabhakar, who is currently serving as Executive Director at NMDC Steel Limited (NSL), was earlier recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB).
An official order issued by the Ministry of Steel on May 8, 2026 confirmed that the President has approved his appointment to the top post at RINL.
Prabhakar’s appointment comes at a crucial juncture for RINL, which operates the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and remains a key player in India’s public sector steel manufacturing landscape. His elevation follows due process, with PESB recommending his name and the ACC granting final approval.
Prior to this, the additional charge of CMD, RINL was being handled by senior officials, including Director (Mining), SAIL, Manish Raj Gupta.
