CMD BCCL Reviews Siding, Washery Operations and Monsoon Preparedness in Barora, Block-2 and Govindpur Areas

Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Bharat Coking Coal Limited, Manoj Kumar Agrawal, conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Barora, Block-2 and Govindpur areas on Monday, reviewing coal dispatch infrastructure, washery operations, pre-monsoon preparedness, safety standards and measures to curb illegal mining.
Senior officials accompanying the CMD included General Manager (E&M) R.R. Karna, General Manager (Siding) G.K. Mehta and other officials from Coal Bhawan Headquarters. General Manager Barora K.K. Singh, General Manager Block-2 Kumar Ranjeev, along with General Managers of Govindpur and Katras areas, were also present during various stages of the inspection.

The inspection commenced at the KCC Link Siding in the Barora area and the KCC Main Siding in Block-2, where the CMD reviewed loading operations, safety arrangements and monsoon preparedness measures. In view of the upcoming Maheshpur silo operations and the anticipated increase in coal loading capacity, he suggested relocating the KCC Main Siding line to create a greater distance between the main railway line and the siding line.
Agrawal directed officials to initiate all preparatory work, including the relocation of overhead power lines and development of the required platform infrastructure, on a priority basis.
Interacting with shale pickers at the siding complex, the CMD noted that modern crushing, sizing and handling systems had eliminated the operational need for shale picking. He urged cooperation from all stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and directed officials to complete loading within the prescribed free loading time while supplying only crushed and quality coal to consumers.
During his visit to Madhuban Washery, the CMD reviewed platform development work and instructed officials to expedite its completion. He also assessed the quality of ROM coal, daily feed rates and yields of washed coking and power coal.

Emphasising quality control, Agrawal directed officials from Block-2 and Govindpur areas to ensure that only quality ROM coal is supplied to the washery and that stones or other foreign materials are not mixed with the coal feed.
To enhance washery capacity utilisation, he directed the development of linkages for ROM coal supply from mines in the Sijua and Kusunda areas. He also instructed officials to increase daily coal receipts at Madhuban Washery to 13,000 tonnes and focus on improving washed coal yields.
In the Govindpur area, the CMD inspected the ongoing MAFL lining work at Bagdigi Jore and directed that the remaining work be completed before the onset of the monsoon season to strengthen water management systems and ensure mining infrastructure safety.
Taking a strong stance against illegal mining, Agrawal directed officials from the Govindpur and Katras areas to jointly identify and permanently seal all entry points used for illegal mining activities. He also instructed the CISF to maintain continuous surveillance and take immediate action against any such activities.
Concluding the inspection, the CMD called upon officers, employees and stakeholders to work in close coordination to achieve production and dispatch targets for the current financial year.
He stressed that safety, quality, environmental compliance, operational discipline, teamwork and forward-looking planning would remain the key pillars for achieving BCCL’s growth objectives.
The inspection reflects BCCL’s continued focus on strengthening infrastructure, improving coal quality, enhancing washery performance, ensuring comprehensive monsoon preparedness and promoting safe and sustainable mining operations.
