Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL), one of India’s leading defence public sector undertakings and a Navratna company under the Ministry of Defence, has announced MDL Trade Apprentice Recruitment 2026 for 495 Apprentice vacancies. The recruitment drive offers opportunities for ITI Pass, 10th Pass, and 8th Pass candidates under various trades at the prestigious Mumbai shipyard.

Candidates interested in building a career in the shipbuilding and defence manufacturing sector can submit their online applications from 11 June 2026 to 1 July 2026. Selected apprentices will receive training along with a monthly stipend as per the Apprentices Act, 1961.

Educational Qualification

Group A – 10th Pass Trades

  • Passed SSC/Class 10 examination.
  • Mathematics and General Science must have been studied.
  • ITI-qualified candidates are not eligible for Group A trades.

Group B – ITI Trades

  • Passed ITI in the relevant trade from a Government-recognized Industrial Training Institute.

Group C – 8th Pass Trades

  • Passed Class 8 examination under the 10+2 education system.
  • Science and Mathematics should have been studied.
  • ITI-qualified candidates are not eligible for Group C trades.

Minimum Marks Requirement

  • General/OBC/SEBC/EWS: Minimum 50% aggregate marks.
  • SC/ST: Pass Class.

Candidates appearing in the final ITI examination may also apply, subject to fulfilling eligibility conditions before the prescribed cut-off date.

MDL Apprentice Stipend 2026

Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend as prescribed under the Apprentices Act, 1961.

MDL Apprentice Selection Process 2026

The selection process consists of the following stages:

Stage 1: Computer Based Test (CBT)

  • 100 Multiple Choice Questions
  • Total Marks: 100
  • Duration: 2 Hours

  • Chemistry
  • Mathematics

Group B Syllabus

  • English & General Knowledge
  • Trade Theory
  • Workshop Calculation & Science

Stage 2: Document Verification

Candidates shortlisted based on CBT merit will be called for document verification and trade allotment.

Stage 3: Medical Examination

Selected candidates must meet medical fitness standards under Apprentices Rules, 1992.

Stage 4: Police Verification

A valid Police Verification Report will be required before joining.
