Power Grid Corporation of India has secured the prestigious WR-ER Inter-Regional Network Expansion Scheme Part-A project, reinforcing its leadership in India’s power transmission sector. The company received the Letter of Intent (LoI) on June 16, 2026, for the project to be implemented under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) framework.
The project will be developed under the Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) model, providing POWERGRID with long-term revenue visibility while expanding the country’s inter-regional transmission infrastructure.
Major Scope of the Project
The WR-ER Inter-Regional Network Expansion Scheme Part-A involves:
- Construction of new 765/400 kV substations in Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.
- Extension of existing substations in Chhattisgarh and West Bengal.
- Development of new 765 kV and 400 kV transmission lines across Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Odisha.
- Strengthening of power transfer capability between the Western and Eastern Regions of India.
