IIM Jammu Concludes Three-Day Leadership Development Programme for NBCC Managers

Three-day Management Development Programme equips NBCC officials with advanced leadership, strategic thinking, decision-making, and managerial skills while paving the way for deeper collaboration between IIM Jammu and NBCC

The Indian Institute of Management Jammu (IIM Jammu) successfully concluded a three-day Management Development Programme (MDP) on Leadership Skills for Managers for officials of the state-owned NBCC (India) Limited. The programme was conducted from June 22 to 24, 2026, at the Vedanta MDP Centre, IIM Jammu, with the objective of enhancing leadership competencies, strategic thinking, managerial effectiveness, and decision-making capabilities among participants.

The valedictory ceremony was attended virtually by Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu, and Dr. K. P. Mahadevaswamy, Chairman and Managing Director of NBCC Ltd. Dr. Debasis Satapathy, Executive Director of NBCC, was present during the ceremony, along with Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean, Faculty & Research, IIM Jammu.

Other dignitaries included Prof. Rajesh Sikka, Co-Chairperson, Executive Education & Consultancy, and Programme Directors Dr. Malaya Ranjan Mohapatra, Dr. Pratik Maheshwari, and Dr. Vaseem Akram.

Addressing the participants, Dr. Mahadevaswamy congratulated the officials on successfully completing the programme and praised IIM Jammu for delivering a transformative learning experience. He emphasized the importance of structured thinking, analytical decision-making, professional discipline, effective time management, and problem-solving skills in today’s dynamic business environment.

He encouraged participants to translate their learnings into action and become agents of positive change within their organizations and communities. Highlighting leadership’s role in nation-building, he stated that every positive contribution by an individual ultimately strengthens the organization and contributes to national development.

Dr. Mahadevaswamy also invited IIM Jammu leadership to explore deeper collaboration opportunities with NBCC in areas such as leadership development, capacity building, executive education, and organizational excellence.

In his address, Prof. Sahay congratulated participants on the successful completion of the programme and credited its success to the collective efforts of the participants, faculty members, programme directors, and the Executive Education & Consultancy team.

He highlighted IIM Jammu’s rapid rise among India’s leading management institutions despite being one of the youngest members of the IIM family. He reiterated the institute’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, industry engagement, and nation-building.

Expressing interest in strengthening ties with NBCC, Prof. Sahay proposed future collaborations in leadership development, consulting, research, and executive education. He also invited the NBCC leadership team to visit IIM Jammu and experience its academic ecosystem and world-class infrastructure.

Prof. Jabir Ali emphasized that leadership is a continuous journey of learning, adaptation, and growth. He urged participants to apply the knowledge gained during the programme to drive organizational transformation and societal progress. He also highlighted the growing development opportunities in Jammu & Kashmir and expressed optimism about future collaborations between IIM Jammu and NBCC.

Dr. Debasis Satapathy appreciated the programme’s design and delivery, noting that it provided valuable insights into leadership, strategic thinking, and managerial effectiveness. He thanked IIM Jammu for creating a highly enriching learning experience for NBCC officials.

During the programme, participants were exposed to contemporary leadership practices, strategic management concepts, financial management principles, and organizational effectiveness frameworks. Through case-based learning and practical discussions, they gained insights into tackling complex business challenges and improving organizational performance.

Participants shared positive feedback during the reflection session, describing the programme as one of the most enriching professional development experiences they had attended. They particularly appreciated the practical orientation of the sessions, the faculty’s expertise, and the relevance of the learning modules to modern managerial challenges.

The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Vaseem Akram. The event ended with the National Song and the National Anthem.

The successful completion of the programme reflects IIM Jammu’s continued commitment to strengthening industry-academia partnerships and nurturing future-ready leaders capable of navigating the evolving business landscape.
