BEML Q1 FY27 Results: Net Loss Narrows 58% YoY, Revenue Rises 29%; Board Recommends Revised Final Dividend
Improved operational performance helps narrow losses, even as Q1 remains seasonally weaker than the March quarter

State-owned defence and heavy equipment manufacturer BEML Ltd reported a significant year-on-year improvement in its financial performance for the first quarter of FY2026-27, despite posting a net loss due to the seasonal weakness typically witnessed in the April-June quarter.
The company reported a net loss of ₹27.01 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 (Q1 FY27), compared with a net loss of ₹64.11 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. The improvement represents a 57.9% reduction in losses on a year-on-year basis.
However, on a sequential basis, BEML’s performance softened sharply as it moved from a net profit of ₹179.82 crore in the March 2026 quarter (Q4 FY26) to a loss in Q1 FY27, reflecting the traditionally stronger closing quarter of the financial year.
Revenue Grows Nearly 30% YoY
BEML’s revenue from operations increased 29.2% year-on-year to ₹819.62 crore, compared with ₹633.99 crore in Q1 FY26. Sequentially, revenue declined 54.3% from ₹1,794.17 crore reported in the March quarter.
The company’s total income stood at ₹821.19 crore, registering a 27.8% growth over ₹642.50 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, total income declined 54.4% from ₹1,804.14 crore.
Expenses Rise on Higher Business Activity
Total expenses during the quarter rose 19.9% year-on-year to ₹854.91 crore, compared with ₹712.84 crore in the same period last year. However, expenses were 45.2% lower than the ₹1,559.19 crore incurred in Q4 FY26.
BEML reported a pre-tax loss of ₹33.71 crore, significantly improving from a pre-tax loss of ₹70.28 crore in the year-ago period, reflecting a 52% year-on-year improvement. Sequentially, the company moved from a pre-tax profit of ₹244.95 crore in the previous quarter.
Board Recommends Revised Final Dividend
The Board of Directors, at its meeting held on August 7, 2026, recommended a revised final dividend of ₹12.28 per equity share of face value ₹5 each, representing 246% for FY2025-26.
According to the company, the revised final dividend includes the ₹0.55 per share final dividend that had been recommended by the board on May 29, 2026.
Earlier this year, BEML had also declared a second interim dividend of ₹2.30 per equity share (46%), in addition to the previously recommended final dividend.
Consistent Dividend Track Record
BEML has maintained a consistent dividend payout policy over the years. During FY26, the company announced two interim dividends—₹2.50 per share in February 2026 and ₹2.30 per share in June 2026.
The company also completed a 1:2 stock split in November 2025, reducing the face value of each equity share from ₹10 to ₹5.
Before the stock split, BEML had paid an interim dividend of ₹15 per share in May 2025, another ₹5 per share in February 2025, and a final dividend of ₹15.50 per share for FY2023-24, underscoring its commitment to rewarding shareholders.
