Sanjay Kumar Appointed MD and CEO of Petronet LNG, to Take Charge on May 13, 2027

Petronet LNG Limited has appointed Sanjay Kumar as its next Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD and CEO), with his appointment taking effect from May 13, 2027, the date on which the position is scheduled to fall vacant.

The decision was taken by the Board of Directors of Petronet LNG at its meeting held on October 2, 2026, following the recommendation of the Board’s Nomination and Remuneration Committee.

Kumar currently serves as Director (Marketing) at GAIL (India) Limited, one of India’s leading natural gas companies. His appointment marks a forthcoming leadership transition at Petronet LNG, a key player in the country’s natural gas supply chain.

With the appointment announced more than seven months before the effective date, Kumar is scheduled to assume leadership of Petronet LNG on May 13, 2027.

Petronet LNG operates LNG import and regasification terminals at Dahej in Gujarat and Kochi in Kerala. The company plays a significant role in meeting India’s natural gas requirements by importing liquefied natural gas (LNG) and supplying regasified natural gas to domestic customers.

Kumar’s elevation to the top position at Petronet LNG comes against the backdrop of India’s continuing efforts to expand natural gas consumption and strengthen the country’s energy infrastructure. The company’s future priorities will include operational performance, capacity utilisation and supporting the development of the domestic gas market.

His appointment will formally take effect on the scheduled vacancy date of May 13, 2027.
