Union Petroleum Minister, IndianOil Mourn Murder of Field Officer Mahesh Shelke in Maharashtra
IndianOil officer was attacked with a sharp weapon while carrying out official takeover process at retail outlet in Maharashtra


Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister and IndianOil have mourned the killing of Shri Mahesh Shelke, Manager (Retail Sales)/Field Officer, IndianOil, who was brutally attacked with a sharp weapon while discharging his official duties in Maharashtra.
Shelke, Field Officer, Nanded North RSA, was part of a team carrying out the takeover of an IndianOil retail outlet in Hingoli district when he was attacked. He lost his life in the incident.
Expressing deep shock and sadness over the killing, the Petroleum Minister strongly condemned the attack and offered heartfelt condolences to Shelke’s bereaved family.
The Minister said that the Petroleum Ministry and IndianOil stand firmly with the family and will extend all possible support to them. He also said the matter has been taken up with the senior-most officials of the Maharashtra Government and Police to ensure swift and strict action against those responsible in accordance with law.
The Minister stressed that the safety, dignity and security of energy-sector personnel who work in the field to serve the nation remain paramount.
IndianOil also expressed deep anguish over the untimely demise of its colleague.
Describing Shelke as a bright and promising Sales Officer, IndianOil said he was a dedicated professional whose commitment and sincerity had earned him the respect of his colleagues.
“His untimely passing is an irreparable loss to his family and a profound loss to the IndianOil family,” the corporation said.
IndianOil said it stands firmly with Shelke’s bereaved family and is extending all possible support to them. The corporation has also taken up the matter with the concerned authorities.
The killing of an IndianOil officer while performing an official assignment has left the corporation’s employees deeply shocked. The incident has also brought into sharp focus the security risks faced by field personnel of oil marketing companies while carrying out official responsibilities.
The Petroleum Ministry and IndianOil have called for strict action against those responsible for the attack.
Shri Mahesh Shelke is survived by a grieving family and colleagues who have lost a valued member of the IndianOil family.
