SCOPE, i2P2M Bring Together 60+ PSU Professionals for National Workshop on Project Management

The workshop brought together over 60 participants from nearly 20 Public Sector Undertakings, along with project management professionals and practitioners

The Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) and the International Institute of Projects and Program Management (i2P2M) have joined hands to strengthen project management capabilities in India’s public sector, organizing a three-day National Workshop on Totality of Project Management (TPM) at SCOPE Complex, New Delhi.

The workshop was inaugurated by Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE, in the presence of Adesh Jain, Chairman, i2P2M. It has brought together over 60 participants from nearly 20 Public Sector Undertakings, along with project management professionals and practitioners.

The programme focuses on critical dimensions of project management, including effective planning, execution, risk management and organizational excellence, providing a platform for knowledge-sharing and professional development across the public sector.

Atul Sobti Highlights the Human Dimension of Project Management

Addressing participants at the inauguration, Sobti emphasized that successful project management goes beyond scheduling, costing and technical frameworks. He underlined that the ultimate success of a project depends significantly on the human touch, with people, their commitment and their ability to deliver results playing a decisive role.

He stressed the need to empower people with conviction and passion to achieve project objectives, highlighting the importance of human capabilities alongside technical expertise in delivering successful outcomes.

Sobti also underscored the growing importance of continuous learning in an era marked by rapid technological change and the increasing adoption of artificial intelligence.

“Lifelong learning—skilling, reskilling, and upskilling—must remain our core mantra,” he said, emphasizing the need for professionals to continuously upgrade their capabilities to remain relevant and effective.

Strengthening Project Management Across PSUs

The three-day workshop seeks to encourage collaboration among public sector enterprises and project management practitioners, enabling participants to exchange experiences, share professional insights and explore approaches to improving project outcomes.

The initiative aligns with SCOPE’s broader objective of strengthening professional capabilities and promoting greater efficiency, organizational excellence and sustainability across India’s public sector.

As public sector enterprises undertake complex projects amid evolving technological and operational demands, initiatives such as the National Workshop on Totality of Project Management underline the importance of combining robust project management systems with skilled, adaptable and empowered human resources.
