A fire broke out at the pitch intermediate storage tank of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited’s (HPCL) Visakh Refinery in Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam at around 10 PM on November 2, 2026.
HPCL’s Fire and Safety Team promptly activated firefighting and emergency response measures, bringing the fire under control within a short time.
The company confirmed that there were no casualties in the incident and that the fire remained confined to the pitch tank area.
HPCL further clarified that all units of the refinery are operating safely.
The swift response by the refinery’s Fire and Safety Team ensured that the incident was contained without any loss of life or disruption to the safe functioning of other refinery units.
