BCCL Provides ₹25 Lakh Ex-Gratia to Family of Dozer Operator Killed in New Benedih Mine Accident

Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) has provided an ex-gratia assistance of ₹25 lakh to the family of late Sonu Kumar Singh, a dozer operator who lost his life in a mine accident at New Benedih Patch under ABOCP on May 29.
The ex-gratia cheque was handed over to the deceased employee’s dependents by Kumar Ranjeev, General Manager, Block II Area, at the Block II Regional Office. Representatives of Ambe Mining Private Limited (AMPL), the outsourcing agency operating at the site, along with senior officials, were present during the cheque distribution ceremony.
Sonu Kumar Singh was working as a dozer operator at the New Benedih mining project when the fatal accident occurred. Following the incident, senior officials from BCCL’s Coal Bhawan headquarters and local management rushed to the site, reviewed the situation and initiated necessary action.
As part of the company’s prescribed provisions for such incidents, BCCL extended financial assistance to the family of the deceased contract worker.
Expressing his condolences, Kumar Ranjeev said the company stands with the bereaved family and is committed to extending all assistance as mandated under the law.
Officials from both BCCL and AMPL paid tribute to the deceased employee and conveyed their sympathies to the grieving family members.
