Chalivendram inaugurated at Ukkunagaram by Smt. Leena, Deputy General Manager, RINL
This scheme runs continuously for nearly 60 days every summer, catering to the needs of thousands of thirsty citizens

Smt. Leena , Deputy General Manager (Materials Management), RINL and wife of Dr. Salim G. Purushothaman, Director(Operations), Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, inaugurated the Chalivendram organized by the Ukkunagaram Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samiti at the Visakha Steel General Hospital Bus Stop of Ukkungaram Township of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, amidst auspicious Vedic chanting. The Chalivendram, set up by Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samiti, Ukkunagaram,is a much-awaited summer initiative that has been serving the public with cool drinking water and fresh buttermilk during the scorching summer months for over 33 years.
Commending the selfless service rendered by the Seva Samiti, Smt. Leena extended her heartfelt congratulations to Ukkunagaram Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samithi for its multi-fold society-centric and humanitarian service activities, including free education, feeding the underprivileged, and other welfare initiatives. She noted that the Chalivendram service is truly unique, as it runs continuously for nearly 60 days every summer, catering to the needs of thousands of thirsty citizens including office-goers, labourers, travelers, those who come to the visit general hospital and also to the needs of the general public.

Smt. Leena appreciated the unwavering commitment of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samiti, Ukkunagaram, in upholding the spirit of service and reaching out to the needy with compassion and dedication. Shri G. Ramakrishna, Convener of the Kunnagaram Seva Somatosensory members of the organisation, women devotees, and officials from various departments participated in the inaugural ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, G Ramakrishna, Convener of Ukkunagaram Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samiti, highlighted the ongoing efforts of providing free buttermilk and fresh water, catering to the needs of hundreds of travelers, daily for the last 33 years. The event saw active participation from several office-bearers of Sri Sathya Sai Service Organizations, Sri Sathya Sai Youth, members of Sri Sathya Sai Women’s Wing, and devoted individuals, all coming together in the spirit of service and compassion.
