Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday personally operated a tiller to plough his agricultural field at his private residence in Nagla Tarai, sending a strong message in support of traditional agriculture and organic farming. The Chief Minister also applied natural cow dung manure to the field, highlighting the importance of sustainable farming practices. His mother, Mrs. Bishna Devi, accompanied him during the farming activity.

While working in the field, Dhami emphasized the invaluable contribution of farmers and the significance of preserving India’s agricultural traditions. He stated that farming is not merely a means of livelihood but forms the foundation of Indian culture and the rural economy.

The Chief Minister said that integrating traditional and natural farming methods with modern agricultural technologies can make farming more prosperous, productive, and sustainable. He stressed that natural inputs such as cow dung manure enhance soil fertility while also helping protect the environment.

Encouraging farmers to reduce their dependence on chemical fertilizers, Dhami urged them to embrace organic and natural farming practices. He noted that the Uttarakhand government is continuously implementing initiatives aimed at increasing farmers’ incomes, modernizing agriculture, and promoting organic produce from the state.

Highlighting the state’s agricultural heritage, the Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand’s identity is deeply connected with agriculture, rural traditions, and nature. He added that the government is supporting farmers through various schemes focused on traditional farming, horticulture, natural agriculture, and the promotion of local products.

Dhami further emphasized the need to connect the younger generation with agriculture and rural development, stating that their active participation is essential for ensuring sustainable growth and preserving the state’s rich agrarian legacy.
