Debasish Panda Appointed Chairman Of IRDAI
The top post was lying vacant from May, 2021
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has cleared the name of Debasish Panda, former Secretary, Department of Financial Services, as Chairman of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI). Panda has been appointed to the post of IRDAI chief, initially for a period of three years from the date of assumption of the charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Subhash C. Khuntia retired as IRDAI chief in early May 2021 and the government did not fill up the post after that. Panda, a 1987-batch IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, retired as financial services secretary in January this year, after a two-year stint.
