Government Has No Plans Of Merger Of RINL With SAIL
Despite a spate of agitations from worker unions of RINL, government is moving ahead with the privatization of the PSU
Government of India has no proposal to merge Steel PSUs – Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) with Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL).
Replying to a question in the Lok Sabha from Member of Parliament Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, yesterday, MoS (Finance) Dr. Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad categorically stated that there was no such proposal or plan with the Government of India and that the government on 27/01/2021, had accorded ‘in principle’ approval for 100 percent disinvestment of Government of India (GoI) shareholding in Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited.
“No proposal to merge SAIL and RINL is under consideration of the government,” affirmed Faggan Singh Kulaste in a written response to the question of another Member of Parliament, in the Upper House of Parliament on July 18.
