IIM Jammu Concludes Leadership Development Programme for NBCC Officers, Strengthening Managerial Excellence
Three-day Management Development Programme equips NBCC officers with leadership, strategic thinking and decision-making skills for the evolving infrastructure sector

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu successfully concluded the second batch of its three-day Management Development Programme (MDP) on “Leadership Skills for Managers” for officers of National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) Limited. Conducted from July 16 to July 18, 2026, the programme was organised under the aegis of the Institute’s Executive Education & Consultancy Division with the objective of enhancing leadership capabilities, strategic thinking and managerial effectiveness among public sector executives.
The programme was specifically designed to prepare NBCC officers to address the evolving challenges of the infrastructure and public sector ecosystem through contemporary leadership practices, effective decision-making and organizational excellence.
Leadership Begins with Self-Leadership
Addressing the valedictory session, Prof. Rajesh Sikka, Chairperson, Executive Education & Consultancy, IIM Jammu, highlighted the Institute’s growing portfolio of Executive Education initiatives and appreciated the positive feedback shared by the participants.
He emphasized that the true value of learning lies in consistently applying acquired knowledge in professional life. According to Prof. Sikka, learning is a two-way process, and IIM Jammu continuously designs its Executive Education programmes to meet the changing needs of professionals.
He stressed the importance of adaptability, continuous learning and peer learning in today’s dynamic business environment, while reminding participants that effective leadership begins with self-leadership.
Programme Focused on Contemporary Leadership Skills
The valedictory ceremony commenced with a welcome address and programme overview by Dr. Shivani Sachdev, Programme Director, who reflected on the objectives and outcomes of the three-day programme.
She highlighted the enthusiastic participation, collaborative learning and meaningful interactions witnessed throughout the programme. The sessions provided participants with contemporary insights into leadership, organizational effectiveness, decision-making and professional excellence, enabling them to enhance their managerial capabilities.
Participants Describe Programme as Transformative
During the reflection session, NBCC officers described the programme as an enriching and transformative learning experience.
Participants noted that the curriculum introduced them to modern leadership concepts directly relevant to their professional responsibilities. They appreciated the practical and customized approach of the programme and expressed confidence in implementing the key learnings within their respective organizations.
The officers also praised the interactive pedagogy, opportunities for peer learning and faculty engagement. Several participants remarked that the programme rekindled the spirit of college life while offering a refreshing break from their routine professional responsibilities.
Many participants also commended IIM Jammu’s serene campus and warm hospitality, stating that the programme had not only enhanced their leadership perspectives but had also “awakened the leader within.” They expressed their eagerness to participate in future Executive Education programmes at the Institute.
Certificates Awarded to Participants
The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates to all participants in recognition of their successful completion of the Management Development Programme.
Delivering the vote of thanks, Dr. Shivani Sachdev expressed gratitude to the Institute’s leadership, faculty members, resource persons, organizing team and participants for their active engagement and contributions in making the programme a success.
The ceremony concluded with the rendition of the National Anthem.
