Mahanagar Gas Limited Expands Reach : First Connection Of Domestic PNG At Navy Nagar, Mumbai

First domestic PNG conversion completed at Rafiya Manzil 8000 households, INHS Ashwini Hospital among others to get PNG under the MOU

Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), one of the largest city gas distribution companies in India, has successfully completed all processes and initiated first domestic PNG connection under its Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Indian Navy to supply piped natural gas (PNG) to their residential and official premises in Mumbai. The connection work at the Naval Officers flats in Rafiya Manzil Flat commenced and PNG supply to the first flat commenced in April 2023.

Mahanagar Gas Limited and Indian Navy had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the Headquarters of Western Naval Command of Indian Navy in October 2022. As per the signed MOU, Mahanagar Gas Limited will be supplying PNG at Navy Nagar in South Mumbai. The establishments that will receive PNG supply includes 8,000 households, INHS Ashwini Hospital, and multiple galleys and bachelor kitchens of Indian Navy.

As a part of the MOU, Rafiya Manzil from defence forces buildings at Navy Nagar in Colaba became the first residential complex to receive the supply of PNG.

Commenting on association, Mr. Ashu Shinghal, Managing Director, Mahanagar Gas Limited said, “It is a moment of great pride for us to associate with the Indian Navy and serve the brave hearts of our country and their family members, with safe, efficient and reliable energy. It is also an extension of our commitment towards augmenting the energy infrastructure in Mumbai and the transitioning to green energy.”

The MOU is a result of multiple meetings and discussions between MGL and Indian Navy towards the transition to safe and green energy.
