Ministry of Coal to Hold Hyderabad Roadshow on Coal and Lignite Gasification Projects Tomorrow

Industry leaders, investors, and policymakers to explore opportunities in India's emerging coal gasification sector

The Ministry of Coal will organize a Roadshow on Coal and Lignite Gasification Projects in Hyderabad on June 11, 2026, following the successful response to a similar event held earlier in New Delhi. The initiative is aimed at accelerating investments and stakeholder participation in India’s growing coal gasification ecosystem.

The Hyderabad roadshow is expected to bring together policymakers, industry leaders, technology providers, investors, and representatives from Central and State Governments to discuss opportunities and challenges in the sector. The strong participation witnessed during the New Delhi roadshow reflected increasing industry confidence in coal gasification as a key component of India’s energy and industrial strategy.

Union Minister of Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy will attend the event as the Chief Guest, while Minister of State for Coal and Mines Satish Chandra Dubey will be the Guest of Honour. Senior officials, including Vikram Dev Dutt, Secretary, Ministry of Coal, and Sanoj Kumar Jha, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal, will also be present along with representatives from coal and lignite companies and industry associations.

Coal gasification is considered a transformative technology that converts coal into synthesis gas (syngas), which can be used to produce a range of value-added products such as methanol, ammonium nitrate, synthetic natural gas, and industrial chemicals. The Government of India has been actively promoting coal gasification through policy support and incentive schemes to enhance energy security, reduce dependence on imports, and diversify the utilization of domestic coal resources.

The roadshow will serve as a platform for discussions on policy initiatives, technological advancements, investment opportunities, and project implementation strategies. It is expected to facilitate strategic partnerships and encourage greater collaboration among stakeholders involved in the coal and lignite gasification value chain.

The Ministry of Coal believes that such initiatives will play a crucial role in creating a robust coal gasification ecosystem in the country while contributing to the vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat through enhanced energy security, sustainable resource utilization, and industrial growth.
