NTPC North Karanpura Hosts IRSM ER – II Chess Tournament

NTPC North Karanpura proudly hosted the IRSM ER – II Chess Tournament, which was inaugurated by Sh. A K Shukla, GM(O&M). The event witnessed spirited competition with five prominent teams from the region, namely NTPC North Karanpura, NTPC Bongaigaon, Darlipalli, Talcher Thermal and Talcher Kaniha from Assam & Odisha.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by esteemed dignitaries including Sh. V. S Dubey, GM(Projects); Sh. Ravindra Sharma, GM (FM); Sh. Rajeev Verma, AGM(IT); Sh. AK Agarwal, AGM(TAD); Sh. Dheeraj Gupta(DGM HR); and Sh. Abhishek Anand(Senior Manager HR), among others.

The event commenced with a traditional welcome for the participating teams followed by the arrival of the chief guest. The ambiance resonated with the melodious “NTPC Geet ” and the felicitation of players for their commendable sportsmanship. Students from DAV Public School took the stage to uphold fair play and fitness by pledging their commitment. Sh. A K Shukla delivered an enlightening address, setting the tone for the tournament. The ceremony reached its pinnacle with the unveiling of the event’s mascot and the coveted IRSM Trophy, culminating in a patriotic note with the National Anthem.

The program promised thrilling matches ahead, fostering camaraderie and excellence in chess.
