NTPC REL Floats Tender for 600 MW ISTS-Connected Wind Project in Andhra Pradesh
The project will comprise 200 wind turbine generators, with each WTG having a minimum rated capacity of 3 MW

NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) has floated a tender for the supply, erection, installation, testing and commissioning of wind turbine generators (WTGs) for a 600 MW Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected wind energy project in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.
The project will comprise 200 wind turbine generators, with each WTG having a minimum rated capacity of 3 MW. NTPC REL has invited bids for the project, with the bid submission deadline set for September 15, 2026.
600 MW Wind Project to Come Up in Anantapur
The tender covers the development of a 600 MW nominal-capacity wind power project in Anantapur. The selected bidder will be responsible for the complete supply and installation package for the wind turbines, from detailed engineering and manufacturing through erection, testing and commissioning.
The WTGs offered under the project are required to be listed under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) and must have a rated capacity of 3 MW or above.
The scope is aimed at establishing the project’s guaranteed performance parameters through the installation and commissioning of the offered WTGs and associated systems.
Comprehensive WTG Supply and Installation Scope
According to the tender requirements, the successful bidder will undertake detailed design and engineering, manufacture, supply, erection, installation, testing and commissioning of the WTGs within the wind farm.
The scope also includes associated control panels, SCADA systems, controls, system software and other related equipment required for the operation and monitoring of the wind power project.
The bidder will also be responsible for the design, engineering, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of unit substations (USSs) associated with each WTG.
Electrical works required for the grid integration of the wind turbines are also included in the package.
Civil and Balance-of-Plant Works
The tender extends beyond the supply of wind turbines and electrical equipment. The selected contractor will also undertake associated civil works required for installation of the WTGs.
These works will include the construction of foundations for WTG towers and their associated unit substations.
Where required, the scope will also cover control cabins near the tower base for housing control panels and related equipment.
10-Year Comprehensive O&M Contract
A key component of the NTPC REL tender is the provision for 10 years of comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M) of the supplied system.
The O&M period will commence following commissioning of the project and will cover the WTGs and associated unit substations.
The contractor’s responsibilities during the O&M period will include the supply of required spare parts and consumables, along with repairs and replacement of defective equipment.
The long-term O&M provision is intended to support reliable operation and sustained performance of the wind generation assets over the initial decade of project operations.
NTPC Group Expanding Renewable Energy Portfolio
The tender is part of NTPC Group’s broader push to expand its renewable energy portfolio and strengthen its presence in the wind and solar power segments.
Through NTPC REL, the group has been pursuing large-scale renewable energy projects, including utility-scale solar and wind developments, as part of its strategy to build significant renewable generation capacity.
The proposed 600 MW wind project in Andhra Pradesh will add another sizeable wind energy asset to this growing portfolio while contributing to the expansion of renewable power generation capacity connected to the ISTS network.
