Petronet LNG, Mahanagar Gas sign Master Agreement for LNG procurement at India Energy Week 2026

Partnership enables PLL to supply RLNG to MGL, strengthening gas sourcing flexibility

Petronet LNG Limited (PLL) and Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) have entered into a Master Agreement under which PLL will undertake procurement of LNG cargoes and supply Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) to MGL, strengthening India’s city gas distribution ecosystem.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Akshay Kumar Singh, Managing Director & CEO, Petronet LNG Limited, and Ashu Singhal, Managing Director, Mahanagar Gas Limited, on the sidelines of India Energy Week 2026 at ONGC’s ATI campus in Goa.

Under the agreement, PLL will source LNG from international markets and sell RLNG to MGL, providing the city gas distributor enhanced operational and supply flexibility. The arrangement enables MGL to augment and optimise its gas supply portfolio, particularly by leveraging international spot LNG prices.

The agreement will remain valid for a period of one year, with a provision for extension based on mutual consent between both parties.

This collaboration reflects the growing trend of strategic partnerships among energy PSUs aimed at ensuring reliable gas availability, improving sourcing efficiency, and strengthening India’s natural gas value chain amid evolving global energy dynamics.
