4,500+ raids conducted in the past 24 hours, around 4,000 cylinders seized

The Government of India has intensified efforts to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply and promote alternative energy usage amid the ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia, particularly following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
At a high-level inter-ministerial briefing held at the National Media Centre, senior officials from key ministries shared updates on energy availability, maritime operations, and diplomatic engagements.
PNG Push Gains Momentum
In a significant development, over 13,700 new Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections have been issued in recent days, while more than 7,300 consumers have shifted from LPG to PNG, easing pressure on LPG demand.
City Gas Distribution (CGD) companies such as IGL, MGL, GAIL Gas, and BPCL are actively promoting PNG adoption through incentives and faster connection timelines. The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has also directed companies to expedite supply rollout and awareness campaigns.

States including Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Delhi, and Rajasthan have reported major enforcement actions.
