RailTel Bags ₹145.47 Crore Long-Term Telecom Contract from Eastern Coalfields Limited

The contract will involve delivery of advanced telecom network services and managed bandwidth solutions across ECL’s operational network

RailTel Corporation of India Limited has secured a major telecom and digital connectivity contract worth ₹145.47 crore from Eastern Coalfields Limited, further strengthening its position as a preferred technology partner for large public sector enterprises. The company received the Letter of Acceptance (LoA) on April 27, 2026, according to a regulatory disclosure made under SEBI norms.

The contract, valued at ₹145,47,09,192 inclusive of taxes, will involve delivery of advanced telecom network services and managed bandwidth solutions across ECL’s operational network. The execution timeline extends over five years, with the project scheduled for completion by May 2, 2031.

This fresh order adds to RailTel’s rapidly growing order book and reflects the PSU’s increasing footprint beyond railway communications into mining, defence, smart governance and enterprise digital infrastructure.

Strategic Boost to RailTel’s PSU Digital Services Portfolio

The latest win is significant as RailTel Corporation of India Limited continues to diversify its revenue streams through long-duration managed service contracts from government departments and central PSUs. RailTel has in recent years emerged as a key provider of:

  • secure fibre-based communication networks,
  • enterprise VPN solutions,
  • cloud and data centre services,
  • surveillance systems,
  • managed internet bandwidth, and
  • digital governance infrastructure.

RailTel already has a strong history of executing telecom assignments for coal sector companies, including previous connectivity projects for coal subsidiaries, underlining its specialised capability in servicing mission-critical industrial locations.
