SCOPE, GIZ Germany Organize Climate Action Workshop with MoEFCC, Showcase BEL’s Net-Zero Initiatives
The technical sessions were conducted by officials from MoEFCC and the LeadIT Secretariat

The Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), in collaboration with GIZ Germany, organized an interactive outreach workshop on Climate Action Goals in association with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), as part of its ongoing green skilling initiatives aimed at accelerating industrial decarbonisation across India’s Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).
The workshop was conducted under the India-Sweden partnership initiative Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT), which promotes industrial decarbonisation through international collaboration and technology exchange. Around 40 senior officials from various PSUs participated in the programme.
Senior representatives from MoEFCC, GIZ, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), and Volvo Group addressed the participants, sharing insights on climate action, sustainability, and the transition towards net-zero emissions.
The technical sessions, conducted by officials from MoEFCC and the LeadIT Secretariat, focused on industrial decarbonisation pathways, emerging technologies, and policy interventions that can help Indian PSUs accelerate their sustainability goals. Volvo also presented technological pathways for decarbonising the transport sector, while BEL showcased its renewable energy initiatives and sustainability practices.
A key highlight of the workshop was an industrial sustainability exchange visit to BEL’s facilities, where participants witnessed practical examples of renewable energy adoption, resource optimisation, and net-zero strategies. The delegation also visited BEL’s rejuvenated Doddabommasandra Lake, a successful environmental restoration project demonstrating effective water conservation and biodiversity enhancement.
The initiative reflects SCOPE’s continued commitment to strengthening green skills and fostering knowledge exchange among PSUs to support India’s climate commitments. By bringing together policymakers, industry experts, and public sector leaders, the apex body aims to promote sustainable industrial practices and build a climate-resilient future.
