SECL Sets Up Real-Time Truck Dispatch Monitoring Control Rooms to Boost Transparency in Coal Dispatch
Preventive Vigilance initiative aims to reduce truck turnaround time, improve coal evacuation efficiency, and strengthen accountability through digital monitoring
South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has launched a major technology-driven initiative to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accountability in its coal dispatch operations by establishing dedicated Truck Dispatch Monitoring Control Rooms at its key mining projects in Gevra, Dipka, Kusmunda, and Raigarh.
The initiative, developed entirely in-house by SECL’s Vigilance Department, is part of the company’s Preventive Vigilance framework and reflects its commitment to leveraging digital technology for improving operational governance. The Control Rooms have been designed with real-time digital dashboards that continuously monitor truck movement, dispatch status, and operational performance across major coal mines.
By providing live operational data, the system enables early identification of bottlenecks, irregularities, and delays, allowing timely interventions and better coordination among various stakeholders involved in the coal dispatch process.
Beyond detecting anomalies, the initiative focuses on bringing systemic improvements by preventing situations that may lead to operational inefficiencies or lack of transparency. The Vigilance Department expects the monitoring mechanism to significantly reduce Truck Turnaround Time (TAT), streamline vehicle movement, and improve the overall efficiency of coal dispatch and evacuation.
The availability of real-time operational information is also expected to facilitate faster, data-driven decision-making, thereby strengthening logistics management across SECL’s mining operations.
The initiative aligns with the preventive vigilance philosophy advocated by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), emphasizing transparency, accountability, and process improvement rather than post-facto detection.
By integrating digital monitoring with proactive vigilance practices, SECL continues to reinforce technology-enabled governance while setting new benchmarks for transparency and operational excellence in India’s coal mining sector.
