As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, a two-day Mega Hindi Play-lets are being organized jointly by Town Official Language Implementation Committee (Undertaking) – TOLIC is meant for propagation of Official Language in all the PSUs located in Visakhapatnam city), Visakhapatnam and Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited on 17th December, 2022 at 06.30 PM in Multi-Purpose (MP) Hall, Ukku Club, Ukkunagaram township, Visakhapatnam steel plant and & on 18th December at 06:30 pm at Vuda Childrens’ Theatre, Siripuram, Visakhapatnam respectively.
Sri Deb Kalyan Mohanty, Director (Commercial), RINL, Visakhapatnam Steel plant will inaugurate the Play-let on 17th December, 2022 at 7.00 PM in MP Hall, Ukku Club, Ukkunagaram township of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
These two Play-lets will be performed by a renowned group of artists from. Sukhmanch Theatre, New Delhi which is supported by different member offices of TOLIC (Undertaking), Visakhapatnam. HPCL, IOCL as Gold, ECGC, NTPC, PGCL & NALCO as Silver and NMDC, Bharat Dynamics limited (BDL), MSTC as Bronze sponsors came forward in support of the above.
Sukhmanch Theatre is an undertaking by the dynamic, firebrand theatre artist, social activist and actor trainer par excellence, Ms. Shilpi Marwaha. She is an Indian theatre practitioner and cinema actor. She is a theatre activist, and has acted in & directed many stage drama productions. She is also known for her social activism through street plays.
Ms. Shilpi Marwaha has been practicing theatre for more than a decade now & proved her mettle as an actor, writer and director. Her theatre is socio-political in nature & so is her direction, which aims at creating awareness & change in the society. She has hundreds of plays as an actor & more than two dozen plays to her credit as director. She is founder of Sukhmanch Theatre Group & has also worked with Oscar winning director Ross Kaufman, National Award winning director T. V. Chandran, Praveen Morchhale, Anand L Rai, Meghna Gulzar, Abhay Deol, Mallika Sarabhai & Dhanush.
Total 42 artists including Ms. Shilpi Marwaha will perform play-lets ‘Poochho Parsai Se’ and ‘Gagan Damama Bajyo’.
The first one i.e., ‘Poochho Parsai Se’ is a play comprising six short stories from the author Harishankar Parsai . Parsai’s timeless writing is such that it evokes awe and contemplation and will be performed by the above group on 17th December, 2022 at 6.30 PM in MP Hall, Ukku Club, Ukkunagaram township of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
The second play-let ‘Gagan Damama Bajyo’ will be performed by the above group on 18th December, 2022 at 6.30 PM in ‘Vuda Childrens’ Theatre’, Siripuram, Visakhapatnam. It depicts the journey of Bhagat Singh Sandhu, Sukhdev, Rajguru, Chandra Shekhar Azaad and other revolutionists from common men to legends, who were concerned about the worst situation of the pre-independence era and raised their voices against all the wrongs happening around. The story is not about the legends, but their way of response to the facts that made them legends.
There is no entry fee and all the fine arts lovers, members from various industries, institutions, students and Hindi loving citizens and public of Visakhapatnam are cordially invited to witness the above play-lets.
