CM Pushkar Singh Dhami gives instructions to expedite the work
Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami reviewed the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project with the officials of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL). While reviewing the progress of the project at the office of Rail Vikas Nigam located at Yog Nagri Rishikesh Railway Station, the Chief Minister directed to expedite the works. He said that till now the work is being done in better coordination. It needs to be maintained going forward. All possible cooperation will be given by the state government.
The Chief Minister said that along with the Char Dham road project, the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project is a big contribution of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to Uttarakhand. The time is not far when the dream of rail in the mountain will come true. This will see a big change in the economy of the state.
The Chief Project Manager of Rishikesh-Karnprayag Rail Project, Shri Himanshu Badoni, while giving information through a presentation, said that work is being done with the target of completing the project by March 2024. So far, the project has progressed at the expected pace. After Rishikesh the project is mainly underground. Land acquisition has been done. 12 stations and 17 tunnels are being built on this railway line. Simultaneous work is going on at different places so that the work can be completed within the stipulated time frame. The approach roads are already being built. The state government is getting full cooperation in the construction of the railway project.
Shri Badoni informed that many public welfare works are being done by Rail Vikas Nigam. A 52-bed joint hospital is being built in Srinagar. Oxygen plants have also been built. Efforts are being made to develop the belt of rail project as horticulture and honey belt. For this, tree plantation is being done on a large scale.
Assembly Speaker Shri Prem Chand Agarwal, Cabinet Minister Shri Subodh Uniyal, Secretary Shri R Meenakshi Sundaram, Shri Ranjit Sinha, Additional General Manager, Rail Development Corporation Shri Vijay Dangwal, Senior Project Manager Omprakash Malgudi, Additional General Manager Sumit Jain, other officers were present in the meeting.
The Chief Minister also conducted on-site inspection of the tunnel being built under the project at Yog Nagri Rishikesh Railway Station and Gullar Dogi, Tehri.
