Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Launches Free Medical Check-up Scheme

Free screening implemented in a phased manner at the state's major district, sub-district hospitals and community health centers

A new scheme has come into existence for the development and expansion of health services in Uttarakhand. Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami dedicated it to the people of the state while launching the free pathology test scheme in the presence of Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat. The inauguration program organized at the District Hospital (Coronation) Hospital, Dehradun was presided over by Rajpur MLA Mr. Khajan Das.

Common people will get benefit from free screening scheme: Chief Minister

Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the benefit of this free screening scheme would reach the people standing at the last ends of the society. Till now those who could not get their investigation done due to lack of funds, now they will not face any problem. It is the endeavor of the state government that the benefits of public welfare schemes reach every person.

100% covid vaccination by December

The Chief Minister said that the State Government is paying special attention to the strengthening of health facilities. There has been rapid improvement in the health sector. In the state, 72 percent people have received the first dose of Kovid vaccine, while 23 percent people have received the second dose. By December, 100 percent covid vaccination will be done in the state.

The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Uttarakhand has got help in every field from the Central Government in the last seven years. Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas has been the agenda of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. This month, the state got 17 lakh vaccines of Kovid from the Center. More vaccines will be available from the center from next month.


Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said that the free test scheme started well in the state. Everyone will get the benefit of this scheme. Big events will be organized in every district to spread this scheme. Under Atal Uttarakhand Ayushman Yojana, free treatment up to Rs.05 lakh is being given to all the families. So far, more than 3 lakh 17 thousand people have been given free treatment under this scheme.

Test related facilities will be available 24X7 free of cost to the patients

In collaboration with the National Health Mission, the scheme for free screening has been implemented in a phased manner at the major district/sub-district hospitals and community health centers of the state from today. With the implementation of this scheme, free diagnostic and diagnostic facilities will be available to the patients during treatment. This scheme will be functional 24X7 throughout the year, so that patients coming in IPD, OPD and emergency do not face any kind of inconvenience for pathology examination.

The scheme is being implemented in a phased manner on 38 medical units of 6 districts in the first phase and 32 in the remaining districts in the second phase.

In the first phase of the scheme, the facility of free test is being implemented in a phased manner at 38 district sub-district hospitals and community health centers located in Almora, Tehri, Dehradun, Nainital, Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar respectively in 06 districts of the state. In the second phase, this facility will be implemented in a phased manner in 32 medical units of the remaining districts of the state.

207 types of pathological tests included in the scheme

The implementation of the scheme will be according to the Public Private Partnership by the National Health Mission. Under the Free Testing Scheme, 207 types of pathological tests have been included, with the implementation of which pathology facilities in government hospitals will be strengthened.

Ensure that standard diagnostic protocols will be followed

The Lab/Laboratory will function as per the Hub model, which will be implemented as Collection Center & Testing Center or Spoke Collection Center model as per the contract with the Service Provider. It has been made necessary to comply with the NABL guideline / SOP in relation to all the investigations done by the lab and the technician / pathologist and other human resources working there.

Standard diagnostic protocol will be ensured by the service provider to ensure internal and external quality with respect to the pathology sample test report. In addition, this lab will also ensure the availability of primary diagnostic tests for the community.

Under the financial year 2021-22, a budget provision of Rs 5 crore has been made by the National Health Mission to operate this scheme. At the level of contracting firm by the Mission, employment will be created for about 500 human resources, who are being appointed by the service provider. With the implementation of this scheme, the extra pocket money of the patients will be cut during the treatment and the general public will be helped in taking health treatment.

All the doctors and other staff were present.
