Valedictory Function Of Vigilance Awareness Week-2023 concludes At RINL

Prof. M.Chandrasekhar Director, IIM - Visakhapatnam lauds systems and procedures of RINL towards better transparency and corporate ethical practices

The Valedictory function of the Vigilance Awareness Week held at RINL concluded today. At a function held at the Dr. Tenneti Viswanadham auditorium Visakhapatnam steel plant today, the chief guest Prof. M.Chandrasekhar Director, IIM- Visakhapatnam lauded RINL for registering the best ever half yearly performance on many fronts in the current financial year.

Addressing the RINL officials as the chief guest Valedictory function of the Vigilance Awareness Week celebrations, Prof. M. Chandrasekhar said that “The Art of Good governance is based on ‘accountability, responsiveness and transparency” In a conflict between the heart and mind, always follow your heart. Because that’s the crucible of your conscience. That’s the one that drives virtues and values; morals and ethics, Prof Chandrasekhar opined.

In his address, Shri Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL said that “digitisation should be adopted extensively to bring in transparency and aid in curbing corruption. Indeed, technology will be successful only when the human mind is nurtured towards an honest way of life”. Sri Atul Bhatt complimented the vigilance department of RINL for conducting various programs to create awareness about preventive vigilance.

Dr. S. Karuna Raju, IAS, Chief Vigilance Officer, RINL while informing CVC’s theme “Say no to corruption; commit to the Nation”, said that it is a clarion call to stand together against corruption and pledge our commitment for building a safer, stronger, prosperous, and equitable nation.

“Anti-corruption agencies are only check points and act as a deterrent to all kinds of corrupt practices. The true spirit of anti-corruption lays within one’s self and his/her integrity. Hence, while affirming the Central Vigilance Commission’s VAW 2023 theme, I appeal to all the RINL employees to collectively combat corruption by chanting the slogan ‘no to corruption, commit to the Nation’ by upholding the integrity of RINL’s governance thereby contributing towards nation’s building”, Dr. S. Karuna Raju, IAS, Chief Vigilance Officer, RINL said.

Dr. S.Karuna Raju, IAS congratulated all the winners and Vigilance Department for their effort and urged everyone to participate in the initiatives that promote transparency, fairness, accountability, and good governance.

During the valedictory function, Messages from the Honourable President, Vice-President, Prime Minister and Central Vigilance Commissioner were read out on the occasion.

Prof. M. Chandrasekhar, Sri Atul Bhatt gave away the prizes to the winners in the competitions conducted by RINL-VSP during Vigilance Awareness week – 2023 in the presence of Dr. S. Karuna Raju, IAS, Chief Vigilance Officer, RINL Sri AK Bagchi, Director (Projects) and additional charge director (operations), Dr. SC Pandey, Director (Personnel) & additional charge Director (Finance) and Sri Attar Mohammad Haneef, Commandant, CISF, RINL.

It may please be noted that as part of the vigilance awareness week VAW2023, CMD, directors, CVO of RINL administered the integrity pledge on 30th October, 2023 and a large number of employees from various departments of RINL including outstation offices like marketing and mines also took the integrity pledge.

Expert talks were conducted during the observance of the week. Virtual sessions were conducted on Vigilance activities and competitions like Slogan, Posters, Essay writing, Elocution were conducted for RINL employees, their dependents, school children and college students on this year’s theme “Say No to Corruption; Commit to the Nation”.”.

Walkathon / Run for unity were also organized in which the top management of RINL, Senior officials from Steel Ministry, CMDs of various PSUs, employees of RINL, their dependents and school children participated.

Banners were displayed at appropriate places to spread awareness to combat corruption. Social media platforms were used extensively for conducting online quiz.

A Grama Sabha was also organized by the Vigilance department of RINL at Zilla Parishad high school of Dharmarayudu Peta village, Ravada Gram Panchayat, Paravada Mandalam, with the aim of sensitizing the public about the importance of fighting corruption and the steps being taken to ensure eradicate corruption.

Chief General Managers, Heads of the departments, representatives of trade unions, members of various associations, parents, teachers, school students, WIPS,Steel executive’s association, officers of RINL were present on the occasion.

The function was concluded with the singing of the National anthem by all..
