Diwali lamps are lit only because of the security cover of the army on the borders - Dhami
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami congratulated the soldiers on Diwali while participating in the program organized at Lansdowne Cantonment on Thursday. On this occasion, he paid tribute to the martyrs by offering a wreath at the War Memorial. He said that soldiers stay away from home and are deployed in the security of the country. In such a situation, it is a matter of good fortune to come among them and celebrate the festival of Diwali. During this, he also met soldiers, brave women and children.
While addressing the army officers, soldiers and their families, the Chief Minister said that I am feeling very proud to be amongst you all on the auspicious occasion of Deepawali. It is said that festivals are celebrated only where there is family. Everyone celebrates together. Staying away from your family on the day of the festival is in itself the pinnacle of duty. If the people of the whole country are celebrating Deepawali and they are definitely safe, then it is because of our soldiers, who are deployed on the country’s border 24 hours a day. Despite being away from your family on this important festival, there is no lack in your enthusiasm. I am feeling immense happiness to be amongst the soldiers. Seeing the enthusiasm of all of you, new energy is also flowing inside me.
The Chief Minister said that a provision has been made to increase the amount of Rs 10 lakh given to the families of martyred soldiers of Uttarakhand to Rs 50 lakh. He said that this time Diwali is very special, because for 500 years we were waiting for Lord Ram to come to his home.
The Chief Minister said that earlier we used to buy weapons in large numbers from abroad, but today under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India is becoming self-reliant and today more than 200 military equipment are being manufactured in our own country. Which are used by the Indian Army.
