COMFED Emerges As Top Choice For IIM Graduates
19 IIM Bodh Gaya Students Join COMFED Through Campus Placement

In a significant development for Bihar’s employment and dairy sectors, the Bihar State Milk Co-operative Federation (COMFED), known for its iconic dairy brand Sudha, has emerged as a top choice among management graduates. For the first time, 19 students from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bodh Gaya have joined COMFED through campus placements.
This milestone reflects the growing employment opportunities within Bihar and highlights COMFED’s rising reputation as a preferred workplace among India’s elite management talent. The fresh batch of IIM graduates is expected to inject new energy and modern management practices into the organization, further strengthening its operations and market presence.
COMFED, the apex dairy cooperative in Bihar, currently collects over 30 lakh litres of milk daily from 14.45 lakh cattle-rearing members. Its products under the Sudha brand are widely available in Bihar, Jharkhand, Delhi-NCR, Kolkata, Siliguri, Varanasi, and the North-Eastern states. The Federation has also taken significant strides internationally—exporting Gulab Jamun tin packs to Canada and Ghee to the US—making it the third Indian dairy cooperative to reach global markets.

In addition to the IIM recruits, COMFED has also selected:
- 5 students from Chandragupta Institute of Management, Patna
- 1 student from Vikas Prabandhan Sansthan, Patna
- 6 students from L.N. Mishra Institute of Economic Development and Social Change, Patna
COMFED currently provides direct employment to around 4,000 individuals and supports the livelihoods of nearly 40,000 indirectly. Over the next five years, the Federation aims to expand its workforce to 12,000 direct and 1.2 lakh indirect jobs, while increasing its turnover from the current ₹5,500 crore to ₹10,000 crore. COMFED is also targeting international markets in the US, Canada, Southeast Asia, the Arab region, and South Africa for its Sudha products.
Dr. N. Vijayalakshmi, Additional Chief Secretary, Animal and Fisheries Resources Department, Government of Bihar, said “COMFED’s continued focus on quality and innovation is driving its expansion and market presence. New product launches like Anarsa, Cow Ghee, Thermo Pack Peda, Thermo Pack Paneer, Pet Jar Ghee, and Misti Doi have enhanced its market appeal. With a new generation of professionally trained managers, COMFED is well-positioned to achieve its ambitious future goals.”
This strategic talent acquisition marks a new era in COMFED’s journey and underscores the growing convergence of professional management and cooperative enterprise in Bihar.
