Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Honors Firefighters, Announces Major Boost To Fire Services In The State

A world-class training center of fire service will be established in Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the Fire Service Week celebrations held at Police Line, Dehradun. During the event, he honored seven firefighters who won medals at the Third All India Fire Service Games and two personnel who received the DGFS Disc Medal from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The Chief Minister flagged off 20 new fire tenders and fire vehicles inducted into the Uttarakhand Fire Service for public awareness initiatives. He also witnessed a live demonstration of firefighting skills.

In a significant announcement, CM Dhami declared that new fire stations will soon be established in Bhimtal, Dwarahat, Gauchar, Purola, and Sahastradhara. Additionally, a world-class fire service training center will be set up in the state, and a special incentive of ₹10,000 will be provided to all Uttarakhand Fire Service personnel who served during the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.

Highlighting the bravery and dedication of firefighters, the Chief Minister noted that since the formation of Uttarakhand, fire personnel have saved property worth over ₹53,000 crore, and rescued more than 27,000 people and around 7,000 animals. He also expressed pride in the increasing participation of women in the state’s Fire and Emergency Services.

The Chief Minister revealed that the Central Government has sanctioned ₹71 crore for modernizing the state’s fire services, including procurement of world-class equipment and protective fire suits. Construction of 18 new fire stations is also underway.

He further stated that fire stations will be opened in remote areas, including a new station in Bahadarabad (Haridwar) and a building in Gairsain, along with 78 new houses for personnel. A mapping initiative is also being conducted to assess state-wide fire safety needs based on geographic requirements.

CM Dhami emphasized the critical role of fire services during natural disasters and the upcoming Char Dham Yatra, citing past incidents in Kedarnath, Tanakpur, Khatima, Arakot, and Raini where fire personnel worked tirelessly in relief operations. He called on both the forest and fire departments to collaborate proactively to prevent forest fires and protect environmental resources.

The Chief Minister commended the fire department’s ongoing efforts in organizing statewide awareness campaigns about fire safety and reiterated that fire services are among the most essential arms of public safety infrastructure.
