Extensive Security Arrangements In Place For Khelo India Youth Games In Bihar

In a move to encourage public participation, free entry has been arranged for spectators in the stadium galleries

Unprecedented security measures have been implemented ahead of the Khelo India Youth Games 2024, being hosted for the first time in Bihar. The event, dubbed the Maha Kumbh of Sports, will be inaugurated on May 4 and culminate on May 15 at the Patliputra Sports Complex, Kankarbagh, Patna.

To ensure smooth traffic flow and safety of all attendees, police forces have been strategically deployed across every road leading to the sports complex. The arrangements are designed to facilitate hassle-free movement for over 10,000 players, coaches, support staff, and spectators.

On Thursday, Additional Chief Secretary of the Sports Department B. Rajender, Director General of Police Vinay Kumar, and Director General of Bihar State Sports Authority Ravindran Shankaran, along with senior officials, conducted a thorough inspection of the venue and its surrounding infrastructure. They reviewed the security setup for athletes and their teams, assessed crowd management protocols for spectators, and issued directives to senior officers of the Patna Police regarding traffic control.

The inaugural ceremony on May 4 will be graced by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to inaugurate the event virtually. This edition of the Khelo India Youth Games marks a historic moment for Bihar, with events also being hosted in four other cities — Rajgir, Gaya, Bhagalpur, and Begusarai — across 28 sporting disciplines.

In a move to encourage public participation, free entry has been arranged for spectators in the stadium galleries.

Senior officials present during the security review included Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters) Kundan Krishnan, Zonal IG of Patna Garima Mallik, Patna SSP Avkash Kumar, and other key personnel from the state and city police.
