Three NCC Cadets From Uttarakhand Scale Mount Everest, CM Dhami Applauds Feat

In a remarkable display of courage, determination, and unwavering spirit, three cadets of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) from Uttarakhand have successfully scaled the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest. The historic summit was accomplished on May 18, 2025, and has brought immense pride to the state and the nation.
The triumphant cadets are:
- Cadet Virendra Samant – 29 Uttarakhand Battalion NCC, Dehradun
- Cadet Mukul Bangwal – 4 Uttarakhand Battalion NCC, Pauri
- Cadet Sachin Kumar – 3 Uttarakhand Battalion NCC, Uttarkashi
These young mountaineers braved extreme weather conditions, treacherous terrain, and physical exhaustion to reach the peak, embodying the true spirit of NCC and India’s vibrant youth. Their feat sends out a strong message of resilience, teamwork, and the power of dreams realized through dedication.
Cadet Virendra Samant, speaking on behalf of the team, said: “This is not just our victory, it is the victory of every youth who dares to dream. Despite facing harsh challenges, our faith in ourselves, our team, and our mission kept us going.”
Congratulating the cadets on their extraordinary achievement, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said: “This success is not just of these cadets, but of the entire state. Their journey embodies the values of discipline, dedication, and excellence that NCC instills in its cadets.”
Major General Rohan Anand, Sena Medal, Additional Director General of Uttarakhand NCC, commended the cadets, saying: “This expedition was designed to inspire Indian youth towards adventure, leadership, and self-reliance. These cadets overcame not just physical and environmental challenges, but mental hurdles as well. Their teamwork and commitment took them to the pinnacle of success.”
He further added: “At NCC, we believe that true leadership is born in adversity. These young mountaineers have turned that belief into reality. Their journey is a powerful testament to India’s youth power and the nation’s indomitable spirit.”
The expedition was a coordinated effort supported by experienced mountaineers, instructors, and NCC mentors. Significant contributions were also made by the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board, the Indian Army’s mountaineering unit, and various local organizations, all of which played a crucial role in the success of the mission.
