To enrich the experiences of tourists visiting Kashi and ensure they carry back pleasant memories that reflect the city’s ancient culture and traditions, the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government is launching a special soft skills training initiative for people associated with the tourism industry.
The Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM) will conduct the training for a wide range of tourism stakeholders, including boatmen, vendors, tour guides, auto-rickshaw drivers, handicraft sellers, tour operators, and hosts of paying guest accommodations.
The primary objective of this initiative is to inculcate better communication, hospitality, and behavioral etiquette while dealing with both domestic and international tourists. The training aims to equip these service providers with the skills needed to offer a warm, respectful, and culturally rich experience to visitors.
“Kashi is a city where antiquity meets progress. With massive infrastructure improvements over the last decade, including the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor and better connectivity by air, rail and road, the city has become a top choice for tourists,” said Rajendra Rawat, Deputy Director of Tourism.
He emphasized that the training, being imparted by experts from IITTM, would significantly uplift the quality of interaction tourists have with local service providers. “It’s not just about facilities—it’s about hospitality, courtesy, and cultural context. This initiative is a game changer,” he added.
Officials believe the program will not only enhance the tourist experience but also bring economic prosperity to local communities. It is also expected to help position Kashi as a globally competitive tourist destination that offers spiritual depth with world-class service.
