SAIL Inaugurates Representative Office In Dubai To Strengthen Global Presence

A strategic step to boost exports, forge industry linkages, and reinforce India-UAE trade relations

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), one of India’s largest integrated steel producers with an annual crude steel capacity exceeding 20 million tonnes, has inaugurated its first Representative Office in Dubai. This marks a pivotal move in SAIL’s international expansion and underscores its commitment to strengthening global outreach, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The Dubai office was inaugurated by the Union Minister of Steel and Heavy Industries, H.D. Kumaraswamy, in the presence of Satish Kumar Sivan, Consul General of India to Dubai; Amarendu Prakash, Chairman and Managing Director of SAIL; Amitava Mukherjee, CMD, NMDC; V.K. Tripathi, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Steel; and other senior officials from SAIL, NMDC, MECON, and the Ministry of Steel.

Positioned as a strategic hub, the Dubai office will serve as a gateway to the MENA region—facilitating steel exports, enhancing customer engagement, fostering industry partnerships, and supporting SAIL’s foray into new and emerging international markets. Dubai’s investor-friendly environment and connectivity make it an ideal location for expanding India’s steel trade footprint.

This development is aligned with the Government of India’s vision to elevate the Indian steel industry’s global standing and to realize the national steel production target of 300 million tonnes by 2030. It marks a significant milestone in SAIL’s transformation into a globally competitive steelmaker and reflects India’s growing stature in the international steel landscape.
