SAIL CMD Highlights Resilience, Transformation and Green Future at 53rd AGM
“SAIL is ready for tomorrow. I am confident that SAIL has the resilience, capability and vision to emerge stronger and achieve greater heights,” said the CMD

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) held its 53rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) today at Chinmaya Mission, New Delhi, where Chairman & Managing Director Amarendu Prakash addressed shareholders virtually. He highlighted the company’s resilient performance amid global challenges and shared its strategic roadmap for growth, transformation, and sustainability.
Prakash opened his remarks by comparing steel to modern civilization itself — strong, resilient, and enduring. “Just like steel, our company too has been tested by fire, shaped by challenges, and strengthened by experience,” he said, underlining SAIL’s role as both a witness and a partner in India’s development journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047.

Reaffirming the PSU’s pivotal role in nation-building, he noted that SAIL steel powers diverse sectors including infrastructure, railways, defence, and energy. Guided by the National Steel Policy 2017, the company has embarked on its next phase of growth by integrating green technologies, efficient logistics, and customer-centric solutions.
On sustainability, the CMD shared that SAIL is advancing its green steel journey through hydrogen-based steelmaking trials, carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), biochar injection, and renewable energy adoption. “Climate change is a defining challenge for our industry, and SAIL is determined to be at the forefront of this transition,” he emphasized.
To make the company future-ready, two transformational programs have been launched — PRAVARTANAM for digital transformation and SAIL DARPAN for HR transformation. These aim to create a resilient, self-sustaining ecosystem across plants and mines.
Concluding his address, Prakash said, “SAIL is ready for tomorrow. I am confident that SAIL has the resilience, capability, and vision to emerge stronger and achieve greater heights.”
