Major Accident During Hot Metal Charging at Bokaro Steel Plant; Three Workers in Critical Condition
Workers allege that despite repeated warnings, management has allegedly been ignoring safety standards

A major industrial accident occurred at Bokaro Steel Plant on Sunday when hot metal spilled during charging operations in the SMS-2 section, leaving three workers severely burned. The injured were rushed to Bokaro General Hospital (BGH), where they are undergoing treatment. According to hospital sources, their condition remains critical.
Allegations of Safety Negligence
Workers allege that this is not the first such accident at the plant. Despite repeated warnings, management has allegedly been ignoring safety standards. Employees and union leaders claim that inadequate machinery maintenance and lapses in safety protocols are putting workers’ lives at risk.
Local residents and activists also expressed concern, pointing out that while the steel plant made headlines during the COVID-19 pandemic by supplying oxygen nationwide, it has failed to ensure the safety of its own workforce.
The families of the injured workers are in shock, demanding accountability and urgent safety reforms. Plant management has so far remained silent, further fueling unrest among employees.
About time SAIL management got up from its slumber and decide, what is more precious – steel production or human lives?
