In Four Years Since the Inauguration of the Grand and Divine Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham, Devotees Cross 26 Crore

December 13, 2025, marks four years of the rejuvenated Holy Dham

Since the inauguration of the grand and divine Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham on the banks of the north-flowing Ganga, the temple has witnessed an unprecedented rise in devotees. The magnificent Dham, unveiled on December 13, 2021, has not only safeguarded Kashi’s rich cultural heritage but has also revolutionised religious tourism in India.

In just four years, more than 26 crore devotees have visited the sanctum of Baba Vishwanath. The serene ambience, modern conveniences and a deeply spiritual experience continue to attract a growing number of international visitors as well. Thanks to the comprehensive development of Kashi under the Yogi Adityanath-led government—marked by seamless facilities, expansion of the Dham, and heightened security—the footfall of devotees has reached historic heights.

Enhanced Facilities for Devotee Convenience

The revival of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham has significantly enhanced both the spiritual sanctity and the convenience offered to devotees. Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, Chief Executive Officer of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust, stated that extensive arrangements have been made to ensure a comfortable and smooth experience for visitors.

These include:

• German hangers to shield devotees from cold, rain and harsh sunlight

• Mats to protect feet from extreme heat

• Coolers, drinking water stations and ORS counters

• Free wheelchairs for elderly and differently abled visitors

• Golf carts and canopies for summer

• Robust medical facilities

Such arrangements have significantly eased the journey for lakhs of devotees visiting Mahadev’s abode every day.

Transformation of Kashi Under the Yogi Government

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s consistent oversight and commitment have given Kashi a global identity in religious tourism. The Chief Minister regularly visits the temple—often once or twice a month—personally inspecting arrangements and issuing directives to improve the experience of pilgrims.

The city’s holistic development has proven immensely beneficial for residents and continues to drive a steady surge in domestic and international tourists.

Dham Expanded from 3,000 sq. ft. to 5,00,000 sq. ft.

One of the most striking transformations has been the unprecedented expansion of the Dham complex—from a modest 3,000 square feet to an impressive 5,00,000 square feet. This vast increase has enabled better crowd management, enhanced facilities, and a spiritually immersive environment, drawing ever-growing numbers of devotees.

Consistent Rise in Devotee Footfall Since 2021

According to CEO Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, the rejuvenated Dham will complete four years on December 13, 2025. By December 2, 2025, the total number of devotees visiting the temple has crossed 26,23,56,235. On average, over 6.5 crore devotees visit each year.
