ICG Commissions Goa Shipyard Limited -Built New-Generation Fast Patrol Vessel ‘Amulya’
Powered by two advanced diesel engines of 3,000 KW each, the ship can achieve a top speed of 27 knots and has an operational endurance of 1,500 nautical miles

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Thursday commissioned ICG Ship Amulya, the third vessel in the series of eight new-generation Adamya-class Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs), at a ceremonial event held in Goa. Designed and constructed by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), the 51-metre-long vessel represents a significant milestone in India’s indigenous defence shipbuilding programme.
With over 60 per cent indigenous content, Amulya—meaning “priceless”—reinforces India’s growing self-reliance in defence manufacturing, in line with the Government of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make-in-India initiatives. The vessel incorporates a modern design philosophy focused on high operational efficiency, extended endurance, and rapid response capability.
Powered by two advanced diesel engines of 3,000 KW each, the ship can achieve a top speed of 27 knots and has an operational endurance of 1,500 nautical miles, enabling prolonged deployments across India’s maritime zones. Equipped with indigenous state-of-the-art weapons and systems, the vessel offers superior manoeuvrability, enhanced seakeeping, and operational flexibility.

Amulya will undertake a wide spectrum of missions, including coastal surveillance, interdiction operations, search and rescue (SAR), anti-smuggling activities, and marine pollution response, thereby strengthening the Indian Coast Guard’s mandate of maritime safety and security.
The vessel will be homeported at Paradip, Odisha, and will function under the administrative and operational control of the Commander, Coast Guard Region (North East). Commanded by Commandant (JG) Anupam Singh, the ship has a crew strength of five officers and 34 personnel.
The commissioning ceremony was presided over by Amitabh Prasad, Joint Secretary (IC), Ceremonial & Chief Administrative Officer, and was attended by senior officials from the Indian Coast Guard, Central and State Governments, and representatives of Goa Shipyard Limited.
The induction of Amulya marks another important step in the Indian Coast Guard’s ongoing fleet augmentation programme, significantly enhancing coastal security and maritime governance, particularly along the eastern seaboard of India.
