Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday described appointment letters as a “Sankalp Patra”—a pledge for nation-building and a developed India—while addressing newly recruited youth during the 18th edition of the Rozgar Mela, held simultaneously across 44 locations in the country.
More than 61,000 appointment letters were distributed nationwide during the event. At the ITBP Behlana Camp in Chandigarh, 107 appointment letters were handed over to selected candidates for various central government ministries and departments.
The Rozgar Mela at Chandigarh was organised by the Transport Battalion of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP) under the directions of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri formally handed over the appointment letters in the presence of senior ITBP officers and other dignitaries.

The appointments included 10 posts in ITBP, 36 in CRPF, 30 in CISF, 8 in Assam Rifles, 2 in Bank of Baroda, 3 in Union Bank of India, and 18 in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, reflecting the broad scope of opportunities being created through the mission-mode recruitment drive.
Addressing the gathering, Hardeep Singh Puri congratulated the newly appointed candidates and their families, calling the moment a culmination of years of discipline, perseverance, and hard work. He stressed that public service carries a deep sense of responsibility, where government policies translate into real outcomes for citizens.
Highlighting the scale of the initiative, the Union Minister noted that over 11 lakh appointment letters have been issued across the country since the launch of Rozgar Mela, underscoring the government’s sustained commitment to transparent and timely recruitment.
Tracing India’s economic transformation, Puri said the country has moved from an era of scarcity to one of capability-building at scale. Citing growth in manufacturing, exports, logistics, renewable energy, and digital infrastructure, he remarked, “We are not just looking for growth, but growth with social inclusion.”
He urged the new recruits to uphold the principles of sewa (service), competence, integrity, and courtesy, describing them as the foundation of credible and effective governance. Special encouragement was extended to those joining uniformed services, banking institutions, and technology-driven departments for their role in national security, economic development, and digital governance.
Later, Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology and Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, addressed the Rozgar Mela virtually. He stated that nearly 49,200 appointment letters in this edition pertain to the Ministry of Home Affairs and its allied forces, highlighting the focus on strengthening internal security.
At the culmination of the programme, Prime Minister Modi virtually distributed appointment letters to recruits across departments. Addressing the youth, he said the appointment letters were not just official documents but an invitation to nation-building.
Recalling that January 24 marks the formal adoption of Jana Gana Mana as the National Anthem and Vande Mataram as the National Song, the Prime Minister said these symbols embody the constitutional values that public servants must uphold.
He noted that the beginning of 2026 symbolises new hope and opportunities, comparing the moment to the arrival of a new “Vasant” in the lives of newly appointed youth. Reiterating the government’s focus on youth-led development, he said connecting young Indians with skills and employment opportunities remains a top priority.
Highlighting India’s economic strength, the Prime Minister said India is the only major economy to have doubled its GDP within a decade, adding that investments from over 100 countries reflect growing global confidence in India’s growth story.
